My Shitty Artist Statement

Welcome to the shit show!  To say this semester was rough is an understatement, and my work explores the struggle to maintain sanity while juggling changes at home, teaching during a pandemic, and the pressure (I place on myself) to produce Great Art.  It is an exploration of moments captured, my inability to get out of my own way, the tension between letting go of making an “art thing” and being an Art Teacher who has to come up with ideas for “art things” for her students to make, and the constant sense that at any moment I will be discovered as a fraud.  So this is my shitty art.  It is meant to be viewed as a whole rather than as individual pieces, though each image is “clickable”.  It is meant to be chaotic, set against the constant presence of my classroom, peaking through from time to time.  It is meant to be shitty, because I make shitty art.  I mean, shit.
